Pierce Calhoun Owens

AIKEN - Mr. Pierce Calhoun Owens, 81, died Wednesday, November 10, 2010. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday in Aiken Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Mary Frances Thompson officiating. Mr. Owens was born in Langley, a son of the late Frank S. and Lesile Munns Owens. He was a lifelong resident of the Aiken area, and worked for 38 years at the Clearwater Finishing Plant as a machine printer. He served as the District Director of the Machine Printer and Engraver of the United States for 10 years, was a mail carrier, and retired from Wal-Mart after 21 years. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Margie Thompson Owens; a son, Edwin P. (Rena) Owens, Aiken; three sisters, Lois Barnes, Elizabeth "Liz" Gunter, Fair Gerstner, all three of Aiken; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Owens was preceded in death by three siblings, Harold S. Owens, Jerry Owens and Sandra Gantt. The family has requested that memorials be made to the Aiken Heart Association, 1003 Hammond Rd., Aiken, SC 29803.
