AIKEN, SC -- Dave Manfred Chandlee, age 77, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 9th, 2010 in Aiken, South Carolina.
He served the United States Air Force in the Korean War and experienced a full life in over 25 countries working on large-scale engineering projects, racing European sport cars, reading history, working on his Chris-Craft boat, and enjoying fine food and spirits.
A native of Huntington Beach, CA, Dave was the son of late Elwood Chandlee and Gladys Dunne. He is survived by devoted wife, Luz Chandlee, loyal son David F. Chandlee (Aiken, SC), loving daughters Lorna Chandlee (Charlotte, NC), Elizabeth Laureano (New York City, NY), Lara Lanfried (Newport Beach, CA) and Gaylene Knowles (Los Angeles, CA), and grandchildren Madeline Lanfried, Baer Lanfried (Newport Beach, CA) and Garrett Knowles, Hunter Knowles and Hannah Knowles (Los Angeles, CA). Preceding Dave in death was his brother, Tom Chandlee (Huntington Beach, CA).
He lived by the words, “Never leave well enough alone.” In the words of Dave, “the world is the way it is and not the way you want it to be. You must roll with the punches and learn to trust your intuition. In other words, be your own council.”
