AIKEN, SC -- HELEN HOLDEN, 85, widow of James F. Holden, died Friday, November 19, 2010 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
A native of Pittsburgh, PA, Mrs. Holden was a daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Mikulich Olean. During World War II she worked as a welder in the shipyards of Pittsburgh, PA. She worked for many years as a bartender in West Palm Beach, FL before moving to Aiken 4 years ago. Helen lived an exuberant life and had a charitable heart...she never met a stranger and never lost a friend.
Survivors include two daughters; Sandra (Dale) Savell, Aiken, SC and Leila Hopkins, West Palm Beach, FL, a grandson, MIchael Schroedter, Bethesda, MD. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
A memorial service will be held Monday, November 22, 2010 at 11:00 AM at First Assembly of God in Augusta, GA. Interment will take place later in Homewood Cemetery in Pittsburgh, PA.
