AIKEN - Mr. William H. Rankin, 82, died Sunday, November 21, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday in the Shellhouse Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Bobby Smith officiating. Interment will be held at 1:30 PM in the Modoc Baptist Church Cemetery, Modoc, SC. Pallbearers will be Mark McCarty, Billy McCarty, Brian McCarty, Bruce McCarty, Ervin Smith, Linwood Smith, Gary Cockrell, Ben Rankin. Mr. Rankin was a lifelong resident of Aiken County, and retired from the SC Highway Department as a Supervisor after more than 35 years of service.. He is survived by his beloved wife, Floy Edna Mundy McCarty Rankin; a step daughter, Myrtle M. (Bobby) Parks, San Antonio, TX; three step sons, Floyd (Laverne) McCarty, Springfield, SC, Billy Gene (Dorothy) McCarty, Branchville, SC, Gerald (Linda) McCarty, Ridge Spring, SC; a sister, Juanita Jones, Monetta; a brother, Curtis (Cornelia) Rankin, Monetta; ; numerous step grand children, step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Smith; brothers, Roy, P.B., Carl, Henry and Raymond Rankin.
