AIKEN, SC – Alexander Ronald “Ron” Karchaske, 80, beloved husband of Janelle Karchaske, passed away Saturday, February 5, 2022, in Select Specialty Hospital, Augusta, GA from complications of Covid Pneumonia.
A native of Atlanta, GA, Ron was a son of the late Alexander Cyrillus Karchaske and Lucille Frances O’Neal Karchaske. He lived in Jacksonville, FL before living in Texas, North Carolina and South Carolina. He was a former businessman, real estate agent, auto repair manager, and owned a variety of businesses including service stations and trucking company. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Aiken Ward.
His Christlike life has left his imprint on many, many lives. His love for life, people (especially his family), music (he had a euphonious singing voice), delicious cooking/culinary skills (he enjoyed sharing), and compassion for others will be remembered for years to come. He made friends wherever he was in all his travels and had a general love for all people. He had a laughter that was contagious. He enjoyed missionary work, HAM radio, and opera. Many will remember him fondly as Santa Claus.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, Janelle, include eight living children, Matthew Karchaske (Amanda), Cannon Karchaske (Kira), Ferrell Wolf (Phil), Stephen Crews-Hawkins, Sean Wilson (Valeriane), Holly Karchaske, Natalie Karchaske, Christopher Wilson (Rebecca); twenty-four grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by two children, Rebecca Karchaske and Alex Karchaske, Jr., two brothers and two sisters.
The family will receive friends Saturday morning, February 12th beginning at 10:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Aiken. The service will be livestreamed at 11:00 am https://zoom.us/j/92101832714
The family asks those attending to please wear red in honor of Ron.
Interment will be Monday afternoon, February 14th at 1 pm in Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery, 265 NW Harmony Church Way, Madison, FL, 32331.
