Aiken, SC - Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Alfred Cameron Brinson, age 89, residing in Aiken, SC went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 20, 2019. Mr. Brinson was born February 10, 1929 at his Grandfather’s home (Alexander Campbell Brinson home) at Baird’s Creek in Pamlico County, NC. Mr. Brinson attended school in Arapahoe, NC where he graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1947, second in his class, salutatorian. He received both his undergraduate business and law degrees from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. After graduating from law school in 1955, he was employed by Blount and Taft Attorneys in Greenville, NC (1955-1959). Prior to receiving his law degree, he was called into active duty with the U.S. Air Force as a lieutenant during the Korean War where he served in San Marcos, TX (1952-1954). It was during this time that he met and married his beloved bride, Norma Lois Tuma. In 1959, he again was called to active duty with the U.S. Air Force as a Judge Advocate General (JAG) Officer where he served worldwide until his retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1982. During his active life, he was a deacon and Sunday School teacher in his church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. He worked with the Boy Scouts. He was active in politics and fair elections. He actively worked on the campaigns of Senator Helms, Governor Martin and Congressman Walter Jones. He served on the Board of Elections in Pitt County. He was commander of the American Legion Post 39, Greenville, NC in 1959 and again in the 1980’s. He was a professor of Business Law at East Carolina University from 1983-1990. He was a member of Unity Free Will Baptist Church, Greenville, NC. Mr. Brinson always said that the two best decisions of his life were accepting Jesus as his Savior and marrying his wife, Norma. He was preceded in death by his parents Rufus B. Sr. and Mary Scott Brinson; brother, Rufus B. Brinson, Jr.; and sister, Emily Brinson. Alfred C. Brinson is survived by his wife of 63 years, Norma Tuma Brinson; daughters Kathleen Brinson Fountain and husband Noah of Alamogordo, NM; Laura Brinson Temple and husband Thomas of Aiken, SC; and son, James Douglas Brinson and wife Rochelle of Dahlonega, GA. Mr. Brinson is survived by his sister, Delta Brinson Roberts of New Bern, NC; and brother, Mack Scott Brinson, Sr., of San Leandro, CA. Alfred Brinson is survived by fourteen grandchildren, James Fountain and wife, Kathryn; Thomas Fountain and wife, Deana; Douglas Fountain; Jonathan Fountain; Cason Brinson; Daniel Brinson; Reagan Brinson; Bradley Temple and wife, Hannah; Ryan Temple; Abby Temple St. Clair and husband, Jonathan; Lacy Temple Tesdall and husband Cedrick; Holly Temple; Maggie Temple; and Caleb Temple. He is survived by fourteen great-grandchildren, Cameron Dean Fountain; Alyson Leigh Fountain; Landon Taylor Fountain; William Logan Fountain; Emma Bentley Fountain; Lacey Ann Fountain; Lillian Ava Fountain; Kyle Brinson St. Clair; Ellee Renee St. Clair; Sadie Kate St. Clair; Rose Michele St. Clair; Jeremiah Cobb Temple; Keegan Bradley Temple; and David Charles Temple. Services and burial at Amity Christian Church and Cemetery, 7022 Neuse Road, Grantsboro, NC. (Pamlico County) on Saturday, 26 January, 2019 at 2PM.
