AIKEN, SC – ALLAN L. BIRK, 72, beloved husband of Marcia Thorston Birk, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, March 30, 2022, in Asheville, NC.
Born in St. Cloud, MN, Allan was a son of the late William and Alvina Thul Birk. He grew up in Rockville, MN. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he earned the rank of Sergeant. He moved to Aiken in 1990 from Coon Rapids, MN and he retired from Bridgestone in 2014. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and was a former volunteer with ACTS.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Marcia; his daughter, Margaret Birk Baker (Christopher), Irwin, PA; his son, Andrew William Birk (Tara Cunningham), Manhattan, IL; six grandchildren, Jeffery Baker, Moss Baker, Carsten Birk, Declan Birk, Ephraim Birk, Jude Birk; a brother, David Birk (Marilyn), Eagan, MN; three sisters, Diane Browning (James), Colorado Springs, CO, Karen Hunstiger (Michael), White Bear Lake, MN, Michele Birk, St. Cloud, MN. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Porwoll.
A memorial service will be held Friday morning, April 8th at 11 o'clock in St. Paul Lutheran Church with The Rev. Jeff Erbskorn officiating. Inurnment will be in the church’s columbarium. A reception will follow.
