AIKEN, SC – ANN STORY, 74, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.
Born in Waynesburg, PA, Ann was a daughter of the late George Alexander and Alice Shattuck McGee. She grew up in Amity, GA, in Lincoln County, and graduated from Lincoln County High School. She earned her undergraduate degree from Tift College and received her Master’s Degrees from the University of Georgia and the University of South Carolina. Ann began her career as a teacher in Columbia County Georgia Schools. She later taught science at Paul Knox Middle School and North Augusta High School. She ended her career at Evans High School.
Ann was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of North Augusta. After teaching, she became a missionary with the Southern Baptist Convention International Mission Board. She served in Kenya, Ethiopia, and South Korea, retiring after approximately 10 years. She moved to Aiken in 2009 and became a member of Millbrook Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Ruth Rackley (Todd), Clinton, SC, Mary Boswell (Jeff), Aiken; a son, Dan Story (Denise), Steinenbronn, Germany; six grandchildren, Annalise and Alexandra Rackley, Garrett and Caroline Boswell, Jacob and Daniel Story; a brother, Roy McGee, Amity, GA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Alex McGee.
The family will receive friends Saturday, July 24th from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Millbrook Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at the church at 11:00 am with The Revs. Dr. Stephen Cannon and Bill Howard officiating. The service will be livestreamed at (https://www.facebook.com/srfhandsfh). Interment will be at 3:30 pm in Greenwood Baptist Church Cemetery, Amity, GA.
