Anne Katherine Studley

Anne Katherine Studley, aged 54, passed away at her home in Halifax, Nova Scotia on December 21, 2021, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

She is survived by her sister, Lucile Higgins (Michael), her brother, Robert "Bobby" Studley Jr. (Sylvia), nephews Robert Studley III (Lauren) and James Higgins; nieces, Ashley Studley, Katherine Studley, and Julia Higgins; grandnieces Christina Studley and Nora Studley, grandnephew Hank Studley, and her long time partner Scott Wellenbach.  She was predeceased by her parents Robert V. Studley Sr. and Eleanor C. Studley.  

Born July 22, 1967, Anne grew up in Aiken and graduated with honors from Aiken High School in 1985, going on to receive a B. A. (International Studies) and M. A. (Linguistics) from the University of South Carolina.  She especially enjoyed playing saxophone in her high school and college bands.  She went on to work and live in many places including Japan, India, Seattle, Toronto, Atlanta, and in 2008 moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia to teach the visually impaired for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind.  It was there she met Scott, the love of her life.

Anne was faithfully devoted to her family, many friends and clients.  She was an avid gardener and explorer of her beloved Nova Scotia, passionate to share her knowledge for the benefit of others and the environment.  A dedicated practitioner of Buddhist meditation, she spent much time in contemplative retreat.  Known for her sharpness of mind, her attention to detail in all facets of her life, her loyalty and commitment to helping others, she is deeply missed.  

A memorial service will be held in Aiken at First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 1:00.
