ANNETTE JORDAN BEAN, 88, beloved wife of Robert W. “Bob” Bean, Jr., passed away unexpectedly Saturday, April 20, 2024.
A native of Royston, GA, Annette was a daughter of the late Harold P. and Anna Lee McMahan Jordan. She graduated from Royston High School and from Athens Business College.
She moved to Aiken in 1953 to work for DuPont at the Savannah River Plant where she met her future husband, Bob. She and Bob were married in 1960. She was a longtime member of South Aiken Presbyterian Church where she also volunteered as the church secretary and helped with many preschool activities.
Annette was an avid gardener, Formosa azaleas, dogwoods, and hydrangeas were her favorites. She dearly loved being a homemaker and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She and Bob always had a vegetable garden and she loved growing tomatoes, cucumbers, and figs. Her favorite leisure activity after watching Atlanta Braves Baseball, was spending mornings with Bob on their porch with a cup of coffee.
Surviving is her husband of 64 years, Bob; her son, David Bean (Pamela), Aiken; her daughter, Debra Landmann (Scott), Evans, GA; two granddaughters, Meredith Bean, Ainsley Landmann; two brothers, Ralph Jordan (Sandy), Royston, GA, Douglas Jordan (Andrea), Macon, GA; a sister-in-law, Jocelyn Jordan, Rome, GA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her oldest brother, Kenneth Jordan and younger sister, Cora Beth Reynolds.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, morning, April 24th beginning at 10 o’clock at South Aiken Presbyterian Church. The funeral service will follow at 11 o’clock with The Rev. Jason Hammersley officiating. Interment will be in Historic Bethany Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be directed to the South Aiken Presbyterian Church’s Pre School, 1711 Whiskey Rd., Aiken, SC 29803.
