AIKEN, SC – ARLENE LANE, 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
A native of Chicago, IL, Arlene was born March 22, 1936, to Roy and Carolyn Berott Bedau. She was a graduate of the University of Illinois where she earned both her B.S. and M.S. She and husband, Bob, moved to Aiken in 1989 and she worked at the Savannah River Site as a computer data analyst. She volunteered as a docent at the Aiken County Historical Museum and later became a member of the board of directors of Friends of the Aiken County Historical Museum. In 2002, she received the Earl Kauffman Award for the Academy for Lifelong Learning at the University of South Carolina, Aiken. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was active in the singles group. She was also a member of the Nose in a Book Club and American Needle Point Guild.
Surviving are her sister, Carol (Jim) Eaton, Wheaton, IL and numerous, beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Robert H. "Bob" Lane in 2016..
A memorial service will be held Saturday Morning, June 2nd at 11 o’clock at First Presbyterian Church. Memorial contributions may be directed to Friends of the Animal Shelter (www.fotasaiken.org).
