AIKEN, SC – ARLINE G. BENCE, 87, widow of Richard Bence, died Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at her residence. A native of Brooklyn, NY, Arline was a daughter of the late Joseph and Filomena "Minnie" Dallesandre Volpe. A longtime resident of Alpharetta, GA, she moved to Aiken in 2016. Survivors include her daughter, Karen Yoder ( son-in-law, Robert) of Aiken and a grandson, Richard “Rick” Yoder of Aiken and Charlottesville, VA. She also leaves behind a number of close nieces and nephews spread across the United States. Arline and her husband, Richard, owned a series of small businesses in Rhode Island and New York. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling, cooking, socializing with her friends, and most of all, spending time with her family. The family will receive friends Wednesday morning, April 12th from 9:30 until 10:30 AM at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 11 o’clock at the old St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church on Park Ave. with The Rev. Gregory Wilson as Celebrant.
