AIKEN, SC – Mrs. Barbara Anne Brown Ciravolo, a loving mother and wife passed away Monday, August 24, 2020 after a short illness.
Services will be held privately.
Born in Atlanta, Barbara was a daughter of the late Walter Brown and Claire Buff Brown of Sandy Springs, GA. She loved gardening, art, horses, fish, cats and dogs; especially Borzois. She graduated from Furman University with a BS in Biology and continued on to get her MS in botany from the University of Georgia investigating the genetics of the Morning Glory plant. She worked at the Savannah River Ecology Lab where she met and a few years later married her husband, Thomas G. Ciravolo and had two wonderful daughters. She spent a few years at the University of South Carolina, developing and managing a unique mouse colony for DOE. She also helped manage the Aquarium, a local fish /pet store.
In addition to her husband and mother, Barbara is survived by her two daughters, Amy Ciravolo, West Columbia, SC, Amber Ciravolo, Las Vegas, NV and a sister, Nancy (David) Shavin of Leesburg, VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Friends of the Animal Shelter, FOTAS PO Box 2207, Aiken, SC 29802.
