Barbara Jane Gorby

AIKEN, SC - BARBARA JANE GORBY, 75, widow of The Rev. Roger Lee Gorby, passed away Friday, May 27, 2022, at her residence.

A native of Harrisburg, PA, Barbara was a daughter of the late George and Dessie Blake Dobbs.  She attended Marietta Bible College and was a faithful pastor’s wife for 25 years.  She moved to Aiken in 2000 from Ladysmith, VA.

Survivors include her daughter, Tina Gorby; grandson, John Caleb Raines, both of Greenville, SC; three of her eleven siblings, Janice Kuhn, Shirrell Dobbs (Ella) and Sharon Peters (Charlie).  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Betty Noble, Patricia Smithson, Charlotte Maxine (Peggy) Palmer, Carlton Dobbs, Beryl Dobbs, Mary Jo Garrison Lawrence Dobbs and Byron Dobbs.

The family will receive friends Tuesday morning, May 31^st beginning at 10 o'clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be at 11 o’clock at the funeral home with her brother-in-law, Charlie Peters officiating.  Interment will be in Graniteville Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Andrew Siders, Charlie Peters, Caleb Raines, Scott Raines, Jeff Baker and Dexter Lambert.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society (cancer.org).
