Barbara Mariner Lloyd

AIKEN – Mrs. Barbara Mariner Lloyd, 87, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018.

Mrs. Lloyd was born in Milford, DE, a daughter of the late Roma C. and Ruth Jester Mariner.  Prior to moving to Aiken in 1974, she had worked as a secretary for E.I. DuPont in Wilmington, DE until becoming a stay at home mother.  In Aiken, she helped start the South Aiken Baptist Christian School and held various positions on the school board and within the school.  She also worked with the Pregnancy Hotline in Aiken when it was first getting started.  Mama Lloyd was a devoted wife and a loving mother, always putting others before herself.

She is survived by her daughter, Joan (Dr. John) Hadden, Aiken; sons, Chris (Beverly) Lloyd, Beaufort, SC, Mark D. (Donna) Lloyd, Aiken; granddaughter, Jennifer Lloyd Young; step grandson, Nick Lewis; thought of like grandchildren, Cody Temple Walker and Steven Willis; great grandchildren, Taylor Lloyd Atkinson, Trent Young, Alexis Young; thought of like great grandchild, Jocelyn Flowers; close friends that were family to her, Scotty and Cathy Temple.

The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at SHELLHOUSE FUNERAL HOME INC., 924 HAYNE AVE., AIKEN, and the funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with the Reverend Ben Reams officiating.  Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
