Barney Lester Faulk, 94, loving husband of Mary Faulk, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2022 in Aiken, SC. Barney was born June 10,1927 in Goldsboro, NC and spent his early years in Raleigh, NC. He served in the Navy in the Pacific during World War II. After the war, Barney found his way to Newport News, Virginia, where he began work at the Newport News Shipyard. He worked at the Shipyard for 42 years before retiring in 1989.
Barney was strong in his faith and was an active member and volunteer at Bethany Methodist Church in Hampton, Virginia for over 55 years. Barney was a wonderful father to his children, coaching sports teams and always providing everything they needed. He was known as 'Easy-going Barney' and made friends everywhere he went. His grandsons knew him as 'Grandpa' and enjoyed spending time with him, especially at the beach.
During retirement, Barney and Mary loved to travel to their favorite spot, Hilton Head Island. Barney enjoyed watching and playing golf and coming to Aiken to attend the Masters Tournament.
Barney is survived by Mary, his wife of 68 years; two sons Michael Faulk of Hampton, Va. and Jerry Faulk (Lauren) of Aiken, SC and daughter Maryann Browning (Jim) of Rincon, Ga.; four grandsons, Tommy Faulk (Helen), Daniel Faulk (Rebecca), Kevin Browning, and Paul Browning; one great granddaughter, Elloree Faulk; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, March 18, 2022 in the Shellhouse Funeral Home chapel with the Reverend Dr. Tim McClendon officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
