Benny Osborne Kidd

June 23, 1942 — September 26, 2022

Aiken – Mr. Benny Osborne Kidd, 80, passed away Monday, September 26, 2022.

Benny was born in Vonore, TN, son of the late George Franklin and Martha Osborne Kidd.  He moved to Aiken with his family in the early 1950s, and worked as a maintenance mechanic at the Savannah River Site.  He was a member of South Aiken Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and participated in many other roles in the church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Green Kidd; daughter, Kim (Johnny) Thomas, Aiken; son, David (Melissa) Kidd, Aiken; grandchildren, Kirstyn Thomas, Ryan (Kelley) Thomas, Erin Thomas, Ben Kidd, Morgan Thomas, and Caroline Kidd.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret Ann Romine and Brenda Sue Redd; and his brother, George S. “Scotty” Kidd.

The visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM, and the funeral service following at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 29, 2022 at SHELLHOUSE-RIVERS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 715 E. PINE LOG RD., AIKEN, SC, with the Reverend David Harper officiating.  Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens.
