AIKEN, SC – BETTY RUTH GRICE, 86, widow of James Raymond Grice, died Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Pepper Hill Nursing and Rehab Center, A native and lifelong resident of Aiken, Betty was a daughter of the late George Mayfield and Florence Olive Lazar Kinard. She was a homemaker and a member of Millbrook Baptist Church. She was a “Mama”, “Nana” and “Betty Ruth” to many. She loved the beach, live music and being around people. Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Grice Blackwood, Elaine Grice; a son, Ray Grice, all of Aiken; six grandchildren, Rachel Locklear (Brian), Breanna Barton (Eddie), Meredith Smith (Chad), Clint Blackwood, Will Grice and Jeremy Grice (missing since November 22, 1985); eight great-grandchildren, Jackson and Spencer Barton, Max and Hudson Smith, Kaleb Woodward, Colton Blackwood, Alana and Jaelyn Locklear; a brother, Robert Edward Kinard (Emily), Aiken. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Johnny Kinard. The Family would like to thank her special friends at Pepper Hill Nursing Home. The family will receive friends Friday evening, August 18th from 6 until 8 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home. The funeral will be Saturday morning, August 19th at 11 o’clock at the funeral home with The Rev. Dr. Phillip Dunn officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Scott, Brian Locklear, Clint Blackwood, Chad Smith, Eddie Barton, Grady Belger and Jackson Barton.
