Beverly Mayer Johnson

NEW ELLENTON, SC – BEVERLY MAYER JOHNSON, 89, widow of William Carl Johnson, died Monday, December 24, 2018 at her residence.

A native of Newberry, SC, Beverly was a daughter of the late Michael O’Neal and Virginia Herring Mayer.  She lived in Aiken County since 1967 and was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in New Ellenton.  She was the former head bookkeeper at South Carolina National Bank and retired after 30 years, as the bookkeeper for Goodman Chevrolet.

Survivors include four daughters, Phyllis Flynn, New Ellenton, Gail Crook (Harold), North Augusta, Angela Prout (Steve), Greenville, Theresa Kendrick (Jimmy), Aiken; daughter-in-law, Daphne Johnson, New Ellenton; two stepchildren, Amy Rogers (Jim), Knotts Island, NC, David Jonsen, Virginia Beach, VA; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Karen Ellis, North Augusta; close family friend, John Ramsey.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Samuel Johnson and her daughter, Sandra Haynes.

The family will receive friends Saturday morning, December 29^th beginning at 11 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be at Noon in the chapel, followed with interment in Southlawn Cemetery.  The Revs. Brancie Stephens, Jason Redd and Mike Yates will officiate.  Pallbearers will be Phillip Ramsey, T. J. Kendrick, Carl Johnson, Ricky Johnson, Jonathan Metts and Ashton Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Corinth Baptist Church’s Building Fund, 819 Main Street, S., New Ellenton, SC 29809.
