AIKEN, SC - Billy A. Bunn, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and cherished friend to many, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. Known for his captivating smile, honesty, and thoughtfulness, Billy lived his life with compassion, bringing joy and warmth to everyone who knew him.

Billy was born to Talmadge A. Bunn and Eva Margaret Jackson, and was one of four boys in a close-knit family. His kind nature and ability to truly listen made him a pillar of support for those around him. He had a zest for life that was evident in everything he did, from his time spent on the golf course to the countless hours enjoying card games with friends and family. A dedicated fan of the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Atlanta Falcons, Billy’s passion for sports was well-known among those who loved him.

After graduating high school, Billy attended Florence State Teacher’s College. Throughout his distinguished career, Billy served as President of Menardi-Criswell, Snow Filtration, and Southern Felt, where his leadership was marked by integrity and care for everyone who worked under his guidance. His employees admired and loved him, a testament to the respect he earned throughout his professional life.

Billy's legacy lives on through his loving family. He is survived by his loving wife Dinah Plyler Bunn and his children, Fred A. Bunn (Dawn), Lisa B. Voss (Chris), Michael L. Williamson (Kim), and Russell B. Williamson (Kimberly). His memory will also be cherished by his grandchildren, Judith Shelby Taylor Williamson, Kaitlin Bunn, Elizabeth B. Allen (Patrick), Alex B. Russell (Jordan), Andrew R. Williamson, Chancellor Reid Williamson, J. Tucker Williamson, Grace J. Voss, Freddie V. Bunn, Will V. Bunn, Joey D. Bunn, Daniel A. Voss, and Steven M. Voss, along with his great-grandchildren, John P. Allen, Louise D. Allen, and Eleanor R. Allen.

Billy A. Bunn will be remembered for living life to the fullest, his unwavering compassion, and the joy he brought to those who were fortunate enough to know him. His memory will forever be a guiding light for his family and friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. John William Thurmond, his staff, and Paula Turner and the team at Empyrean Hospice for their extraordinary care and support.

Funeral services are being provided by Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 24th at St. John’s Methodist Church, 104 Newberry St. NW, Aiken, SC 29801. A reception will follow at Woodside Country Club.
