December 24, 1924 — November 12, 2017

AIKEN, SC – BILLY JACK GEORGE, 92, beloved husband of Rosalyn Ware George, died Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. A native of Robbinsville, NC, Jack was a son of the late Robert H. and Audrey Sherrill George. He proudly served his country during World War II as a Sergeant in the United States Army. He lived in Aiken since 1953 and retired as a supervisor with DuPont at the Savannah River Plant. He was a longtime member of Town Creek Baptist Church where he was formerly Chairman of the Board of Deacons and Church Treasurer. Jack was an avid bowler and competed both locally and on the national level. He won multiple league championships. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the nurses with Professional Case Management (PCM) that cared for Jack with tireless love and compassion for the last five years. Survivors, in addition to his wife of 69 years, Rosalyn, include his daughter, Becky Burcham (Jeff), Raleigh, NC; his son, Alan George, Columbia, SC; three granddaughters, Elizabeth Blackmon, Richmond, VA, Rebecca Jennings, Raleigh, NC, Audrey Dangerfield (Ben), Greenville, SC; four grandchildren, Maliah Jennings, Grace Blackmon, Bennett Blackmon, Timothy Dangerfield; two sisters, Nancy Jolly, High Point, NC, Sue Rippy, Shelby, NC. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by six siblings. The family will receive friends Friday afternoon, November 17th beginning at 1 o’clock at Town Creek Baptist Church followed by the Funeral Service at 2 o’clock. The Revs. Clint Smith and Brancie Stephens will officiate. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery with military honors accorded by the United States Army Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).
