AIKEN, SC – BOBBY BRENNAN MARTIN, 78, husband of the late Violet Evans Martin, died Saturday, April 29, 2017 at his residence after a long illness. A native of Pelion, SC, Bobby was a son of the late Charles Spurgeon and Elizabeth Yonce Martin. He lived in Aiken County for 60 years. He worked for Owens Corning Fiberglass when the plant opened in 1961 until 1975. He then served as President of Teamsters Industrial Local Union # 86 from 1975 until he retired in 1992. Bobby was a beloved husband, loving father and PaPa. He was a devoted Christian and was a member of Christ Way Christian Church. He never met a stranger to witness to. He loved gardening and fishing. Survivors include two daughters, Donna Regan (Col. Richard W. Regan, USMC Ret.), Havelock, NC, Tammy Clark, Aiken; four grandchildren, Thomas Spence (Elizabeth), Christa Turner (Larry), Jacob Winburn (Lauren), Jonathan Scott; four great-grandchildren, Caroline Spence, Addison Spence, Noah Turner, Joshua Turner. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Juanita M. Lucas, Betty Lucas, Jackie M. Redd, Dwen Jeffcoat, Ray D. Martin and Everett Charles “Redd” Martin. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, May 2nd from 6 until 8 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock at the funeral home with The Revs. Mike Terry and Tim Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tom Spence, Jacob Winburn, John Scott, Larry Turner, Mark Redd and Chuck Redd. Honorary pallbearers will be his former sons-in-law, Jay Winburn, Ronnie Clark and Randy Scott In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to National Parkinson Foundation (www.parkinson.org) or to Alzheimer’s Association (www.alzheimers.org). The family would like to thank Bobby’s caregivers, Bobbie Harlow, Evelyn Hawkins and Pruitt Health Hospice for their excellent and compassionate care.
