Brenda Anne Alvey

December 24, 1952 — June 16, 2024

Aiken, SC

Aiken – Mrs. Brenda Anne Alvey, 71, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024. Brenda was born in Oak Ridge, TN, daughter of the late Harold E. and Frances W. Mercer Alvey.

She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Dilworth Wallace; granddaughters, Jessica Gunkler and Jordan Wallace; grandson, Devin Gunkler (Syra); great-grandchildren Lucius, Avery and Ellie; sister, Pam Harmon (Harry); nieces, Sandy Spence (Kenny) and Becky Harmon (David Gustavson); nephew, Alan Harmon (Sunny); great-niece Abbie Spence and great-nephews D.J. Spence, Jacob Harmon and Kyver Harmon.

Brenda brought color to every corner of the world she touched. She was an exceptionally creative individual with such an eye for design and beauty. She had an illustrious and varied career. In Harlan, KY, Brenda co-owned a motorcycle shop, designed kitchens, sold furniture and was head of visual at Belk. She worked at Ann Taylor and was a makeup artist for Elizabeth Arden in Knoxville, TN. She made the step up in to store management at Brooks Brothers in Chevy Chase, MD. After her move to Aiken, she was assistant store manager at Belk, and store manager at Victoria’s Secret, Bombay, and Yankee Candle in Augusta, GA. After her retirement, that color continued to flow out of her onto paper as she learned to paint and followed other artists, while her precious Gigi and Cocoa slept nearby or ran under her feet. It was Brenda’s infectious personality and joy that brought color to the lives of everyone she came in contact with, whether it was her family that she loved so dearly, her vast circle of friends, a customer in a store, or a nurse caring for her. Her love and laughter will be remembered and greatly missed.
