Buford L. Connelly, Sr.

Buford Lee Connelly, Sr. passed away at the age of 90 on October 20, 2024.

Buford was born in Newberry, SC on January 19, 1934 to the late Jesse Pope Connelly and Susie Buford Connelly. The last of six children, he was very close to his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Janelle Connelly, his sons Buford Lee Connelly, Jr. and Kevin Connelly and his wife Lynette, grandsons Justin Connelly and Corey Connelly, brother-in-law Jean Wise and his wife Donna.

Buford served in the army and returned to work at Bell South in Aiken, SC for 35 years.

Buford was very active at Charles Wesley Methodist Church for many years. He joined St. Johns when Charles Wesley closed.

The Family is very grateful to Pepper Hill Nursing Home for their many years of care and to Gentiva Hospice at the end of his life.

The Funeral Service will be held Wednesday morning, October 23, 2024 at 11:30 AM from the graveside in Aiken Memorial Gardens. The Revs. Dr. W. Timothy McClendon and Grayson “Butch” Blackwell will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. John’s Methodist Church, P.O. Box 809, Aiken, SC 29802 or to the Alzheimer’s Assoc. (alz.org).
