AIKEN, SC - Carol Beth Hurst, 80, born in Fort Sam Houston, Texas near San Antonio, Texas, daughter of the late Darl Kenneth Hurst (Sr.) and the late Addie Mae Canter Hurst, passed away into the loving arms of God at 6:17 PM on August 29, 2023 at Anchor Rehabilitation Center after two lengthy surgeries and extended stays in the hospital. In addition to her parents, Carol is preceded in death by her sister Mary Diane Shook. Survivors include her brother Darl Kenneth Hurst, Jr., her nieces Susan Duncan and Emily C. Hurst, nephews Jameson B. Hurst and Jonah Nolen, grandnephew D. Guy English, and grandniece Charlotte Hurst.
Carol lived the early years of her life with her family traveling to various locations in the United States and Japan where her father was stationed as a member of the US Air Force. Most of her adult life was spent living in Orange, Texas and Aiken, South Carolina. Carol retired after working at banks in Orange, Texas and Aiken, South Carolina and at St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church in Aiken.
Carol was always kind and sensitive to the feelings of others. Everyone spoke of how nice she was to them. She was a loving and devoted daughter to her mother and father, loving and close to her sister Diane, and a kind, generous, and nurturing sister to her brother Ken. An avid reader and book collector, Carol was passionate about reading and talking about books. A resident since 1985, Carol enjoyed living in her home in Aiken.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Southlawn Cemetery.
