AIKEN, SC – CARRIE OWENS MOYER, 85, beloved wife of Jesse L. Moyer, died Friday, June 15, 2018 at Agape Hospice House, Lexington, SC.
A native and life-long resident of Aiken, Carrie was a daughter of the late Barney F. and Annie Sizemore Owens. She was an active member of Talatha Baptist Church where formerly served as the church pianist, WMU director and Sunday School teacher. She was a member of The Clogging Rebels. She loved going to the lake home, fishing, reading, search word books and cooking.
Survivors, in addition to her husband of 66 years, Jesse, include her daughter, Marcia Holcolmbe (Bobby); grandchildren, Dawn Moyer Oxford (Brandon), Jesse Rabun Moyer, all of Aiken; sisters, Ruth Joye, Aiken, Diane Turner, Graniteville; brother, James Owens (Harriet), Windsor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Alan Moyer; brothers and sisters, Cecil Owens, Butler Pettis, Eloise Ponton, Wilbur Owens, Willie Owens, Helen Shoemaker.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening, June 17th from 6 until 8 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home.
The funeral will be Monday morning, June 18th at 11 o’clock at Talatha Baptist Church with The Rev. Jordan Bird Officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wallace Owens, Jerry Webb, Brandon Oxford, Ronnie Heath, Stanley Porter and John Porter. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Friendship Sunday School Class.
The family would like the thank Carrie’s caregivers, Maggie Tucker, Belinda Hicks, Hanna Benton and Wynnette Key for their compassionate care during her illness.
