Charles Edward Plumley

MONTMORENCI, SC – CHARLES EDWARD PLUMLEY, 75, beloved husband of Patty Howard Plumley, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023 at his residence.

Born in Augusta, GA, Charles was a son of the late Edward E. and Margaret Booth Plumley.  He grew up in Aiken County and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.  He retired from the Graniteville Co./Avondale Mills.  Charles was an avid outdoorsman.  He loved hunting, fishing, especially trout fishing and camping.  Charles was a mentor to a number of young people showing them how to love the outdoors instead of taking the wrong path in life.

Surviving, in addition to his wife Patty, include his step-mother, Rose Stroman-Morris, North, SC; two daughters, Angela Yonce, Montmorenci, Charlene Gardner (Kevin), Edgefield; grandchildren, Brandon Smith (Ciara), Garrett Gardner, Adriana Gardner, Julia Smith, Charlie Gardner (Lauren); great-grandchildren, Easton Smith, Ryan Smith, Paisley Mobley; three siblings, Terry Carter, Lexington, Daniel Plumley, Columbia, Betty Fitzgerald, Goose Creek.  In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by a sister, Beth Kestler; step-father, James Morris.

The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon, February 8^th beginning at 2 o’clock at Montmorenci First Baptist Church.  The funeral service will follow at 3 o’clock.  Interment will be in the church cemetery with military honors.  Pallbearers will be Cody Mobley, Thomas Rhoden, Brandon Smith, Garrett Gardner, Charlie Gardner, William Voigt.
