Mrs. Charlotte Tuten Henderson Butler, 99, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2025. During her full, long life she was a blessing to her family, many friends and community.
Mrs. Butler was born in Charleston, SC, daughter of the late John Arthur and Ethel Kroeg Tuten. She was a graduate of the University of South Carolina where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. She had been a resident of Aiken from 1952 until moving to Spartanburg in 2024 to be near family. She retired from The South Carolina Department of Social Services – Aiken County as an Economic Services Program Coordinator. She joined Aiken’s First Presbyterian Church in the 1950’s and attended the Law Sunday School Class. She was also a former member of the Beech Island Garden Club, Beech Island Historical Society, a charter member of the Cotillion Club, and board member of the Salvation Army.
Mrs. Butler is survived by her daughter, Virginia (John) Pribbenow, Tucker, GA; her sons, Frampton (Glenda) Henderson, Jr., Columbia, and Alex (Betsy) Henderson, Spartanburg, SC, and daughter-in-law Debra Henderson, Augusta, GA; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and an older sister, Marguerite Pound, Macon, GA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Henderson, her first husband, Frampton Wyman Henderson, Sr., her second husband, Luther Oneil Butler, a brother, John Arthur Tuten, a step-daughter, Faye (James) Claxton, and 2 step-grandchildren: Patrick Patterson and Chad Claxton
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 1st at First Presbyterian Church, Aiken, with the Reverends Chris Erde and Martha Ebel officiating. Interment will follow in Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM in the church Fellowship Hall.
