Christine McNeely “Chris” Caldwell, 61, passed away, Wednesday, November 6, 2024.
Chris was born February 13, 1963, in Greenville, SC, to the late Robert Paul McNeely and Adris Hume McNeely. She was the wife of Thomas “Tommy” Caldwell.
Chris was a witty, loving, generous, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a beautiful and faithful daughter of our Savior and King, Jesus Christ, starting her spiritual journey with her baptism, as an infant, at St. James Episcopal Church in Greenville and then confirmed at St. Michaels and All Angels’ Episcopal Church in Columbia, and then ending at St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church in Aiken. She loved our Lord and anything involving the Anglican tradition. She enriched her faith life with numerous outreach programs and ministries, including leading the Soup Kitchen at St. Thaddeus, volunteering at One Table, Episcopal Cursillo, Alpha, Discovery weekends, Altar Guild, Stephens Ministries, Eucharistic Minister, and several pilgrimages. She was a member of the Order of the Daughters of the King and the Vergers Guild of the Episcopal Church. She most cherished being a mother and grandmother.
Surviving are her husband; son, Patrick; daughter, Kelly (Mark Weidenaar); grandson, Benjamin Thomas Weidenaar; sister, Anne Forest (Frank Hinds); and brother-in-law, Steve Caldwell. She leaves behind many relatives, friends, and godchildren. In addition, to her parents, Chris was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Harris “Buddy” Caldwell, mother-in-law, Anniece Caldwell, and brother-in-law, James “Jim” Forest.
A memorial and burial service for Chris will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, November 23, 2024, at St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church, 125 Pendleton St. SW, Aiken, SC, with the Rev. Dr. Marshall Jolly and the Rev. Joseph Whitehurst presiding, with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Thaddeus Soup Kitchen, 125 Pendleton St., SW, Aiken, SC 29801.
