AIKEN- Mrs. Clara Rowland Bonnett, 92, beloved wife of the late Clifton Harry Bonnett, entered her Heavenly home in the early hours of January 21, 2018. A native of Lincoln County, Georgia Mrs. Bonnett resided in Aiken County for over 70 years. She worked for over 20 years with Graniteville Company as a switchboard operator and payroll clerk. For 22 years until she retired in 1990, Mrs. Bonnett managed the lunchroom of first Windsor then Oakwood-Windsor Elementary, allowing her to nurture hundreds of children many of whom referred to her simply as "Grandma". Daughter of the late Claude Oliver Dewitt Rowland, Sr. and Mary Jane Hall Rowland, Mrs. Bonnett is preceded in death by 10 of her siblings. She is survived by her brother James Rowland, sisters Elizabeth Blake and Mary Jane Clements, daughters Gail Bonnett Ledford and Nelle Bonnett Tyler, granddaughter Laura Ledford, Grandsons Lamar Ledford, Clifton Tyler, Nathan Tyler, and Jacob Tyler, and Great-Granddaughter Ryleigh Tyler. As well as a host of cherished nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnieces, great grandnephews and numerous faithful friends. For 92 years she planted seeds of caring and love in the hearts of those around her and justly reaped a harvest of devotion and affection. The Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, January 24th at 2 PM in the chapel of Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Spring Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lamar Ledford, Nathan Tyler, Jacob Tyler, Joshua Gantt, Timothy Gantt and Billy Taylor.
