Clay B. Jones

AIKEN, SC - CLAY BARDWELL JONES, 69, beloved husband of Donna Coor Jones, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018 at University Hospital, Augusta, GA.

Born in Mt. Holly, NJ, Clay was a son of the late Col. John H. and Margaret C. Jones. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Germany during the Vietnam War. Clay was a graduate of NC State University, earning his B.S. and Masters degrees in Mechanical Engineering. He and Donna moved to Aiken in 1977 when he went to work at the Savannah River Plant, retiring as a project engineer in 2007. He then began Jones Project Management, which he operated until recently. Clay loved spending time at the lake, sailing, woodworking and making people laugh. He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church.

Surviving, in addition to his wife Donna, include his daughter, Kelly E. Jones, Greenville, SC, Douglas P. Jones (Linda T.), Aiken; two grandchildren, Olivia E. and Perry B. Jones; his sister, Leslie Whitehurst, Washington, NC.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday morning, May 30^th at 11 o’clock at St. John’s United Methodist Church with The Rev. Dr. Tim McClendon officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in Ward Hall.
