AIKEN, SC – CLOVIS ELDRED SUMMER, 82, beloved husband of Laura Mae Seay Summer, died Sunday, April 23, 2017 at his residence. A native of Leesville, SC, Clovis was a son of the late Sammy J. and Effie G. Price Summer. He retired from SRNL as a Senior Laboratory Analyst after 40 years of service. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir. Clovis loved gardening and fishing and enjoyed traveling both nationally and abroad. Survivors, in addition to his wife of 61 years, Laura, include three children, Michael E. Summer (Mary), Barbara S. Johnson (Tommy), Russell A. Summer (Kristy); three grandchildren, Jessica S. Walker (Chris), Cameron T. Johnson (Janet), Ansley J. Summer; three great-grandchildren, Clay T. Johnson, Rebecca L. Walker, Riley E. Walker, all of Aiken; two brothers, Myron Summer, West Columbia, Douglas Summer (Ann), New Ellenton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Daphne Monts. The family will receive friends Thursday morning, April 27th beginning at 10 o’clock in the Family Life Center at St. Paul United Methodist Church in New Ellenton. The funeral will follow at 11 o’clock in the Sanctuary officiated by Pastor Robert Reeves. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
