Dale Henry Theesfeld, born on October 11, 1936, in Altona, Illinois, was the eighth of ten children of Henry and Nola (McClure) Theesfeld. He spent his formative years in Galva, Illinois, where he developed a passion for sports. A bout with rheumatic fever during his sophomore year redirected his focus toward academics.
After high school, Dale briefly attended the University of Illinois before returning to Galva to work. He often spoke fondly of the kindness and encouragement he received from his colleagues and family during this period. He later earned a Bachelor of Science in Business from Western Illinois University in Monmouth. In 1967, Dale joined Pabst Brewing Company, starting at the Peoria plant and later transferring to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as a programmer-analyst. While in Milwaukee, he achieved a significant milestone by earning an MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee,
When working for Pabst in Milwaukee, Dale met his best friend and love, Marilyn (aka Mare). They married in 1972. They happily shared their lives for 52 years.
Following his MBA, Dale transitioned from information technology to finance, serving as a cash manager. In 1984, he brought his expertise to the City of Milwaukee, culminating his career as the information technology manager for the city’s fire department before retiring in 2004.
In 2008, Dale and Marilyn relocated from Milwaukee to Aiken, South Carolina, embracing a new chapter in their lives. In Aiken, Dale enjoyed the milder climate and spent countless hours outdoors, tending to his garden and honing his golf skills. At the age of 77, he celebrated his first and second hole-in-one. He took great pride in maintaining his ever-growing shrubs, often accompanied by his loyal dog, Harry. Dale cherished the friendships he formed with his golf buddies and social companions and will be fondly remembered for his kind spirit, steadfast support as a husband, and zest for life.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters Lois Theesfeld, Dorothy (and Greg) Hilton, Virginia (and Don) Wyman, and Jean Theesfeld; and his brothers Allen Dale Theesfeld, Norman (and Evelyn) Theesfeld, and Larry Theesfeld. He also mourned the loss of several brothers- and sisters-in-law: Donna Glass Soulen, Charles Anderson, Merle Baldwin, and William Soulen.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Marilyn (née Soulen); his sisters Betty Baldwin and Pat Anderson; sister-in-law Paula Soulen; brother-in-law, Ray Soulen; and many nieces and nephews.
Dale lived his life in the presence of his Lord Jesus Christ. Hallelujah!
Dale Henry Theesfeld’s life exemplified dedication, resilience, and love. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A private service in Aiken will be followed by graveside service in Altona, Illinois.
