Danny E. Hallman

Aiken – Mr. Danny “Scooter” Eugene Hallman, 68, passed away Friday August 16, 2024.

Scooter was born in Allendale-Fairfax, SC and was the son of the late Philbert Lewis Hallman and Joette Smith Hallman.

Growing up, Scooter loved all things cars – driving them, fixing them, and racing them. He attended Greenville Tech after high school and was in the automotive program. He moved back to Aiken to attend the Chevrolet school for mechanics then worked at the local dealership until he set out on his own and rented a bay for car repairs, right across US-1 from where his future shop would be built - Hallman’s Auto Service – which has served the Aiken community for over 40 years.

For years you could find Scooter at the drag strip with his ‘67 Camaro putting his talents to work. Drag racing and scuba diving were his top hobbies until his daughter Dani came along, he then began spending his time being the best father a girl could ask for. Scooter traded drag racing for horse competitions once Dani found her love for riding. He eventually climbed in the saddle himself and rode in endurance horse races across the country, most impressively riding 100 miles in one day at the Tevis Cup earning the coveted silver belt buckle. Most weekends he would spend time in Hitchcock Woods keeping his horses conditioned for the next race he had scheduled.

Scooter, or Mr. Dan to some, showed us what grit, strength, and determination could do in life. He always put family first. We will forever be thankful for the example he set for us, appreciate the care he showed to those he loved, and respect the honorable life he lived.

Scooter is survived by his daughter, Dani Hallman (John) Felkel, Elloree, SC; his brothers, Richard Lewis (Lorinda “Wendy”) Hallman, Aiken, SC; and Johnny Ervin (Judy) Hallman, Easley, SC; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his nephew, Scott Hallman.

A celebration of life visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 PM, Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Road, Aiken, SC.
