David Michael Roof

AIKEN, SC – DAVID MICHAEL “SUPER DAVE” ROOF, 63, passed away Friday, January 22, 2021 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

     A native of San Diego, CA, Dave was a son of the late Charles C. and Nancy Elizabeth King Roof.  He served as an EN5 in the United States Navy, stationed in Bermuda.  He lived in Aiken since 1989 and was a Senior Construction Engineer for SRNS at the Savannah River Site.

     Dave was a loving husband, father and a devoted son.  He was loved and respected by his many friends and would always go above and beyond to lend a hand and help out everyone he knew.  He loved being on the water and enjoyed the time spent on Clarks Hill Lake with his D Dock neighbors.  Dave was also a great animal lover as evidenced by the many hours he volunteered at Aiken SPCA and with Carolina Boxer Rescue.

     Survivors include his wife, Heather Openshaw Roof; daughter, Linda-Marie Johnson (Kevin), Brighton, CO; grandchildren, Timothy Michael Johnson (Cheyenne), William John Johnson, IV; sister, Jackie Elizabeth Knott, Southport, NC.  In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Leilani Davis and his brother, Charles A. Roof.

     Because Dave passed away due to complications from COVID-19, the family wishes to protect his friends and family, therefore, no services are planned at this time.
