Donald Sheridan Gregory

     Donald S. Gregory, 78, of Aiken, South Carolina passed away unexpectedly on October 29, 2023.

     Don was born on July 5, 1945, in Shipman, Illinois to (father) Jesse S. Gregory and (mother) Jessie Riley Gregory. The couple had 6 children, of which Don was the youngest and the only boy. He graduated from Eisenhower High School in Decatur, Illinois.

     Don and his wife Linda settled in Aiken where they both retired from the Savannah River Site. The couple were married for 41 years. Linda preceded him in death in 2018.

     Don enjoyed woodworking and incorporated many of his beautiful designs into his home. He excelled at both pool and bowling and was amazing with outside yard projects. He loved animals and over the years was devoted to both birds and dogs. It was very rare to ever see him without either a bird on his shoulder or a dog in his lap.

     Don is survived by Daughters Sherry Gregory of Bloomington, Illinois, and Shawn Sutton of Decatur, Illinois. Grandchildren Mazzie, Hannah, Donnie and Gracie, many nieces and nephews, beloved dog Princess and parrot Trace.

     Don’s parents, wife Linda, son Tom Gregory, Sisters Rheba Carol Toll, Barbara Cottingham, Bonnie Hunt, Gladys Foehner and Edith Danseizen preceded him in death.

     The family would like to send a special thank you to Amy and Tommy Hibbitts who were always there to lend a helping hand. Your kindness has been a blessing.

     The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon, November 5th from 2 until 4 o'clock at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home.
