Donald Thor Nicolaisen

Don Nicolaisen of Aiken, South Carolina went to be with his Lord on Saturday morning, June 8, 2019, in the comfort of his home surrounded by loved ones.    Don was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Thor and Amanda (Danielsen) Nicolaisen. He graduated with a BBA degree from the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater and began his career at Price Waterhouse in 1967. At Price Waterhouse, Don held a wide range of management and leadership positions, including serving on its U.S. and global boards and leading Price Waterhouse’s national office for accounting and SEC services. He was honored to serve as the Chief Accountant of United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) from 2003-2005. Following the SEC, Don enjoyed using his leadership gifts to serve as an advisor to several boards of directors including MGIC Investment Corporation, Verizon Communications, Morgan Stanley, and Zurich Insurance Group.   Don met his bride, Sandie, at the age of 18 during their first year of college. They enjoyed 53 years of marriage. Don valued time with his family and friends. This time was best spent outdoors- whether it be on their farm, skiing, traveling, or especially the golf course. He is remembered as being honest, hard-working and compassionate. Don loved the Lord and loved people. His wisdom, smile, and laughter will be missed.   A celebration of life service will be held at 6pm, Tuesday, July 16 at Palmetto Golf Club.
