AIKEN - Mr. Donald Herbert Turno, 90, beloved husband of Sara McClurkan Turno, passed away Monday, October 30, 2017.A memorial service with military honors will be held 2:00 PM Monday, November 13, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church with The Rev. Dr. Brian Coulter and The Rev. Holly Shoaf-O’Kula officiating. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.Born in New York City, Mr. Turno was the son of the late Herbert Charles and Helene Sussieck Turno. He served in the US Navy during WWII on the USS Amsterdam. After the war, Mr. Turno graduated from St. Lawrence University then moving with his family to Aiken where he worked for 36 years as a Senior Supervisor for DuPont. He also worked for Westinghouse for 4 years at SRS. Mr. Turno volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America for over 25 years.In addition to his wife, Mr. Turno is survived by his four daughters, Nancy (Ralph) Palen, Kingston, NY, Kathy (Ron) Keillor, Kerhonkson, NY, Terri (Ken) Hechmer, Aiken, Megan (Ron) McCaslin, Nashville, TN; stepdaughter, Kimberly Raffield, Augusta, GA; sons, Donald (Annette) Turno, Aiken, Daniel (Debby) Turno, David (Jennifer) Turno, Aiken, Derek Turno, Asheville, NC; stepson, Michael (Anita) Raffield; grandchildren, Jay Palen, Kristen Peterson, Ian Keillor, Cole Turno, Justin Turno; great-grandchildren, Ryan Palen, Alec Peterson and Taylor Peterson.He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Svennevick Turno; second wife, Carol DeWitt Turno; a son, Douglas Turno and an infant grandson, Michael Palen.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to First Presbyterian Church, 224 Barnwell Ave., NW, Aiken, SC 29801 or The Tisch Brain Tumor Center, DUMC 3624, Durham, NC 27710, https://tischbraintumorcenter.duke.edu/donate SHELLHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 924 HAYNE AVE., AIKEN, SC 29801
