DORA JEAN BUSH, 75, beloved wife of Proctor Bush, went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday evening, September 22, 2022.
A native of Woodhull, NY, Dora was born March 31, 1947. She was a daughter of the late Homer and Eulalie Kilmer Morton.
Dora was primarily associated with the Medical Field and was Executive Secretary to the CEO of Hilton Head Hospital and then HR Director. After they moved to Aiken, Dora worked in the Medical Record’s department at University Hospital and retired from St. Joseph’s Hospital. Dora was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church where she formerly served as secretary of the Church Council and UMW. She enjoyed volunteering in her retirement at St. John’s, Aiken County Historical Museum and serving on the Aiken Bounty Board of Assessment Appeals. She enjoyed gardening under the tutelage of Proctor, a Master Gardner.
Survivors include her loving husband, Proctor; a stepson, Christopher and Cristina Bush, Cheraw, SC; sisters, Carolyn Burke, Sumter, SC, Sara Lee (Gerald) Foster, Painted Post, NY; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dora was preceded in death by a sister, Lillian Fox and brother Philip Morton.
There are angels on earth and our dear friends Jackie Langer and Rob and Deb Persons have been a blessing to us.
On the way to Heaven, Dora stopped at Rainbow Bridge to bring her beloved toy poodles, Honey, Bonnie and Clyde with her.
A memorial service will be held Thursday morning, September 29th at 11 o’clock at St. John’s United Methodist Church with The Revs. Dr. W. Timothy McClendon and Grayson “Butch” Blackwell officiating. Inurnment will be in the church’s columbarium. The service will be livestreamed on the church’s website at www.stjaiken.org) .
