Born the daughter of Robert Lee Billmyer and Lillian Hilliard Billmyer, she was the last living member of her generation of the Billmyer family. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Robert Lee Billmyer Jr. and Charles William Billmyer. Her surviving family members include her loving husband, Lyle, children Steven Lyle (spouse Cindy) Nicewarner, Elkridge, Maryland, and Pamela Jo Hummer (spouse Carroll), Woodbridge, Virginia.

She had five grandchildren - Ryan and Kristin Hummer, Jennifer and Robert Nicewarner, and Johnna Aleshire. She also had five great grandchildren - Cora Hummer, Sophia Hummer, Vinny Sero, Kennedy Nicewarner, and Stevie Mae Aleshire; two brothers-in-law - Donald and Robert Nicewarner; and one sister-in-law - Betty Nicewarner.

She graduated from Shepherdstown High School as the Salutatorian in her class of 1958. She retired as the Deputy Director of Printing and Publishing for the Department of the Army after 35 years of service. She received many awards of accomplishment during her career.

Dorothy was a country girl at heart. Her priority was God, family, friends and her Yorkies. She dearly loved her family. The grandchildren always took home a goodie bag after their visits. She loved to read, enjoyed traveling, and visited many places around the world. She was a member of the Talatha Baptist Church and volunteered at Christ Central helping those in need. AND, her day would not be complete if she missed viewing the FOX news channel.
