AIKEN, SC – DOUGLAS L. McLANE, 90, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022, in University Hospital, Augusta, GA.
A native of Anderson, SC, Doug was a son of the late Dewey Lee and Jessie Mae Ashworth McLane. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Doug moved to Aiken in 1952 and began his career with DuPont at the Savannah River Plant. He worked at SRP for 38 years and retired as Senior Supervisor in Separations. He also worked for a year as a training manager with Westinghouse. Doug was a life member of the Aiken Masonic Lodge # 156, he was also a member of the Jamil Tempe. He was a former Commadore of the North Augusta Boating Club and former president of the Aiken Bowling Association. He formerly coached Pony League Baseball.
Survivors include, his children, Terry (Dee) McLane, Edgefield, Pat Herlong, Columbia, Philip (Mary) McLane, Oxford, MS and Phyliss Flannagan, Aiken; grandchildren, Katie (Mike) Nunnery, Columbia, Derrick McLane, Washington, DC, Kyle McLane, Pensacola, FL, Patrick McLane, Anckorage, KY, Ryan Allen, Columbia, SC; five great grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Odom, Anderson, SC; a brother, Herbert McLane, Anderson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ann Gentry McLane; second wife, Chloe Springer McLane; grandson, Douglas Drew Allen; two brothers, Roger and Thomas McLane.
The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon, February 2nd beginning at 2 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 3 o’clock in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Southlawn Cemetery with Military Honors.
