Edith S. Pressnell

EDITH S. PRESSNELL, 96, widow of Douglas Cecil Pressnell, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024 in Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

 Born in Athens, AL to Edgar and Sudie Pack Shores, Edith made New Ellenton her home since 1953. She found great joy in various passions, from her love for bowling to tending her garden. However, one of the deepest sources of happiness was the time spent fishing alongside her cherished late husband, Doug. Together, they were proud charter members of the Euwana Boat Club in Plum Branch. Edith was a longtime member of Aiken Church of Christ, where she remained actively involved as long as her health allowed.

Surviving are her daughters, Marcia P. Glover (Wayne), New Ellenton, Cindy Augustine (Murl), New Ellenton, Mary Jane Pressnell, Sharon, SC; grandchildren, Natasha Glover, Mandy Sims (Lee), Bobby Augustine, Whitney Spinks (D. J.), Troy Pressnell, Joey Presnell (Deanna), Tim Presnell (Nikki); great-grandchildren, Kylei Glover, Baylee Sims, Barrett Sims, Madison Cooney, Skylar Patterson, Hunter Eddington, Odin Ramsey, Abbigail Roberts, Douglas Roberts, Caleb Suggs, Catherine Pressnell, Hailey Pressnell, Roxanne Pressnell, Kelby Pressnell, Raylee Pressnell and extended family, Alma Cunningham, Jim Green, Judy Bagwell and Vicki Young.   In addition to her husband and parents, Edith was preceded in death by two sons; Gary D. Pressnell, Hugh G. Pressnell; her grandson, Tyler Roberts and seven siblings.

The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon, March 9^th from 4 until 6 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be Sunday afternoon, March 10^th at 2 o’clock at Aiken Church of Christ with The Rev. Craig Middleton officiating.  Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery.
