AIKEN, SC – EDNA LOUISE HARNUM HRYNIEWICH, 85, beloved wife of Frederick J. Hryniewich, died peacefully at home, Friday, April 28, 2017 after a long illness. A native of Cambridge, MA, Louise was a daughter of the late Gordon H. and Gladys Curtis Primmer Harnum. They raised their family in Acton, MA prior to moving to Aiken 11 years ago. She was an active volunteer, serving in the Peace Corps in Jamaica. She volunteered in several national parks, including Cape Lookout, Death Valley and Maica National Park in Florida. She was the author of “My Peace Corps Experience”. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was a volunteer with the Aiken Hospital Auxiliary. Louise was the voice of wisdom, kind and compassionate to everyone. She will be missed by all lives she touched. Survivors, in addition to her husband of 65 years, Fred, include her daughter, Elizabeth “Liz Hryniewich, Chelmsford, MA; two sons, David Hryniewich, Windsor, SC, Frederick “Rick” Hryniewich (Diane), Acton, MA; four grandchildren, Lindsay O’Malley, Nicole Hryniewich, Kali Hart, Bethany Hryniewich; three sisters, Uldine Drown (Bill), NH, Dorothy Noonan, FL, Priscilla Denehy, Windsor, SC; brother, Bill Harnum (Fran), MA; a number of cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by a son, Steven Hryniewich and two brothers, Neal James Harnum and Gordon L. Harnum. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 until 7 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home with a memorial service at 6:30 PM. The Rev. Lee Phillips will officiate.
