AIKEN, SC - Mrs. Marlene J. Adams, 85, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2019. She was born in Uvalda, as a child moved to Lyons, and was a 1950 graduate of Lyons High School. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville and a Master’s Degree in Education from Georgia Southwestern College in Americus. She taught first grade at Lyons Elementary School for thirty years and first grade at Robert Toombs Christian Academy for eight years. Marlene was a member of Georgia Retired Teachers Association, the First United Methodist Church of Lyons and the John Durst Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Conner Adams; parents, Lamar Jones and Nannie Bell Mann Jones; and a brother, Captain Barry Jones. Mrs. Adams is survived by one son, Cam Reagin and wife Kristi of Aiken; three grandchildren, Caitlin Kitchens and husband Josh of Douglas, and Christopher and Christian Reagin of Aiken; one brother, Coach Jacky Jones and wife Betty of Lyons; and three nieces, Jo Jones Todd and husband Tate of Crestview, Florida, Jill Jones Kennedy and husband Richy of Marietta, and Barri Garrison and husband Cade of Huntsville, Alabama. The funeral service will be held Friday, March 22nd at 11:00 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Lyons with Reverend Duane Fernandez and Reverend Tommy Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Lyons City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
