AIKEN, SC - Mrs. Eloise Youngblood Mundy, 91, wife of the late Rudolph D. "R.D" Mundy, passed away peacefully Friday, July 13, 2018 at her residence, surrounded by loved ones. Funeral services will be held 11:00 Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Charles Smith, Wesley Beaver, Rick Pilz, Ralph Moseley, David Willing and Charlie Richards. Honorary pallbearers will be Eloise's Sunday School Class. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, July 16, 2018 at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home, 715 E. Pine Log Rd., Aiken, SC 29803. Born in Williston, SC, she was the daughter of the late Glover Addie and Clarie Gardner Youngblood. After completing high school in Williston, she attended the University of SC in Columbia. She worked for 49 years as a bookkeeper and office manager for various local employers in Columbia and Aiken, including 19 years for Aiken Building Supply. Eloise and R.D. Mundy were married on January 7, 1953. After coming to Aiken from Columbia later that year, she became a member of Memorial Baptist Church and served as a Sunday School Teacher, Training Union Leader, choir member and member of various committees. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Melcher (Sid), Aiken; a son, Kevin Mundy (Michael Isley), Winston Salem, NC and two grandchildren, Lacey Pruitt (Josh) and Taylor Melcher of Aiken. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her three sisters; Eunice Daniel, Myrtle Coleman, Florine Carter and three brothers, Olin Youngblood, Sam Youngblood and Thomas Youngblood. The family is grateful for the team of caregivers who were so dedicated to Mrs. Mundy as her health declined over the past few years, particularly Beverly Pilz and Judy Sanders.
