Emelyn Spradley Herlong

AIKEN - Mrs. Emelyn Ruth Spradley Herlong, 95, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018.   Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Aiken Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Dr. Fred W. Andrea III officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.   A lifelong resident of Aiken, Mrs. Herlong was born to the late Lawson Wilmont Spradley and Mary Ellen Ergle Spradley. After her retirement, from a career in business, she continued to work as a personal assistant at Aiken Technical College for 22 years. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Aiken and the Barbara Smith Sunday School Class.   She is survived by her daughter, Ellen H. Woody and her husband Edgar Woody, Greenville, SC; two grandchildren, Clement H. Cowan III, Aiken, Padget Cowan and his wife Teresa Cowan, Aiken; three great-grandchildren, Cayce Cowan, Cody Cowan, Cory Cowan; a niece, Cathie Asbill Brown and two great-nephews, Jay Brown, Andy Brown and his wife Holli Brown; a great great nephew Lawson Brown, and a great great niece, Marilaine Brown.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Padget Herlong, a sister, Margaret S. Asbill and a brother-in-law Lewie C.
