Emmie Marie Furman

EMMIE MARIE FURMAN, 75, beloved wife of Thomas P. Furman, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2024 in her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Aiken County, Emmie was the daughter of the late Marion A. “Bub” Scott and Elizabeth Scott Gregory. Following her high school education at Aiken High School, she moved to the Washington, DC area, where she embarked on a successful career with Unisys Corporation. Emmie and Thomas were united in marriage on February 28, 1976, at the LaPlata, MD United Methodist Church. After her retirement from Unisys, she continued to serve her community through her work at the Charles County Probate Court and as a home interior decorator at C. L. Barnes Furniture in LaPlata. Emmie's vibrant sense of humor and unwavering dedication to her family and friends were hallmarks of her character.

Surviving, in addition to her husband of 48 years, Thomas, include a son, Mike Furman and his wife, Heidi, Milton, DE; three grandchildren, Madison Furman, Jocellyn Furman and Mason Furman; her brother, Marion A. Scott (Pam), Columbia, SC; her sister-in-law, Ann Daniels (Dan), Front Royal, VA. In addition to her parents, Emmie was preceded in death by her son, Scott Furman in August, 2023.

The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon, September 5th beginning at 3 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home. 

A Memorial Service will be held at 4 o’clock in the funeral home’s chapel followed by a reception.
