Evelyn Courtney Youngblood

COUCHTON, SC - Evelyn Courtney Youngblood, 94, passed away Sunday, December 26, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.

     Born in Wagener, SC, she was daughter of late Willard & Annie Courtney. She was preceded in death by her husband Lester (Jack) Youngblood, sister Eunice Sherrill, Grandsons Joshua Smith and Tacoma (Ty) Youngblood.

     She resided in Couchton, SC for most of her life. She was a charter member of Couchton Baptist Church, and served on the church’s hostess committee, benevolence committee, WMU and nursery for many years. She was an honorable wife of 50 years, a loving mother to three children, and a loving and caring grandmother to all of her sugar babies. She was faithful and loyal to the Lord and all she loved. She also shared a special bond with her sister Doll, a relationship we should all strive to have with our loved ones. She will truly be missed by her family and all she met.

     She is survived by her sister, Lillie “Doll” Redd; her children, Iris Young (Robert), Lester Lamar Youngblood (Jennifer), Joyce Smith (Stephen); grandchildren, Melissa Young (Paul Fox), Paul Young, Eric Smith, Courtney Smith, Jamie Busbee (Chad), Josh Youngblood (Lindy), Jeremy Youngblood (Laurel); great-grandchildren, Laura Hobson (Shane), Lawson Sellers (Jordyn), Wesley Young, Kaitlyn Young, Huston Smith (Allison), Hunter Smith (Desiree), Bethanee Smith, Sophie Busbee, Carolina Busbee, Savannah Baynham, Whitley Youngblood, Autumn Youngblood, Everlie Youngblood; great-great-grandchildren, Paisleigh Hobson, Peightyn Hobson, Charlotte Smith, Lorena Smith.

     Special thanks to Kindred Hospice and their staff, especially Alicia Jackson and Brittney Sanders.

     The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, December 28^th from 6 until 8 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home.

     The funeral service will be Wednesday afternoon, December 29^th at 2 o’clock at Couchton Baptist Church with The Revs. Mayhew West and Joe Youngblood officiating.  Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens.  Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Paul Young, Josh Youngblood, Jeremy Youngblood, Lawson Sellers, Wesley Young, Hunter Smith and Huston Smith.  Honorary Pallbearer will be Eric Smith.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Couchton Baptist Church.
