AIKEN, SC - Mrs. Gail Yacovitch Parker, 76, widow of the late John E. Parker, passed away Friday, January 4, 2019. A memorial service will be held 2:00PM Saturday, January 19, 2019 at First Presbyterian Church, Aiken with the Rev. Dr. Brian Coulter and the Rev. Holly Shoaf-O’Kula officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Inurnment will be held privately at the church columbarium. Born in Salem, MA, Mrs. Parker was a daughter of the late William Alexander Yacovitch and Ann Dudar Yacovitch Linnell. Moving with her husband to Aiken in 1961, she started working for the Aiken Housing Authority, eventually retiring as Executive Director. Mrs. Parker was a volunteer with the Girl Scouts and the Aiken Community Playhouse. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church holding many offices there including the President of Women of the Church and also taught Sunday School. Mrs. Parker is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Reneé Parker (Jason) Vital, Augusta, GA; son, John William (Jane) Parker, Aiken, SC; grandchildren, Nathan P. (Grace) Vital, Emma Claire Vital, Harrison Hayden Vital, Taylor (Haley) Becker and a half brother, William (Beverly) Yacovitch, Danvers, MA. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her half sister, Carol Y. Hardy.
