GAIL DIANE WHITMIRE, 70, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at AU Medical Center, Augusta, GA. She is now at home with her loving Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ (I Cor. 2:19).
A native of Aiken, Diane was a daughter of the late James Archie and Muriel Bryson Whitmire. She lived most of her life in Aiken and retired from DuPont and Westinghouse at the Savannah River Site as a human resources manager. She was a faithful member of Millbrook Baptist Church since 1964. Diane loved her family dearly and was deeply involved in the lives of her nieces and nephews.
Surviving are her sisters, Shirley Whitmire McCollum, Windsor, SC, Myra Whitmire Eaves (Tom), Aiken; nieces and nephews, Nathan McCollum, Erick McCollum, Adrian Gray, Lauren Sawyer, Adam McCollum, Katie Eaves, John Eaves and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, Diane was preceded in death by her brother, James Gary Whitmire.
The family will receive friends Monday afternoon, January 9th beginning at 1 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 2 o’clock with The Rev. Bill Howard III officiating. Interment will be in Southlawn Cemetery.
